“The life of man upon earth is a warfare,…”
– Job 7:1 Douay-Rheims
Veterans understand the realities of warfare—on the battlefield and within the heart. The words of Job in chapter 7 resonate deeply with those battling the symptoms of PTSD: sleepless nights, haunting memories, a sense of hopelessness, and the feeling of being misunderstood. Just as Job cried out to God in his anguish, veterans too are invited to bring their struggles before the Lord. Inspired by this passage, the Overcoming Job 7 Challenge is designed to help veterans reconnect with their Catholic faith and reclaim their spiritual strength.

The four-Week challenge integrates prayer, Scripture, and devotion to create a daily rhythm that brings healing, discipline, and hope to the soul. More importantly, you will also be prayed for by name during your journey.
The Challenge
Each day, participants will commit to four powerful practices:
- Pray the Morning and Evening Prayers
Begin and end your day with prayer using the Liturgy of the Hours (Lauds and Vespers). This ancient tradition of the Church connects you to a global community of faith and anchors your day in God’s presence. You can pray these free with the DivineOffice phone app or through their website, DivineOffice.org. - Pray the Rosary Daily
Meditate on the life of Christ through the eyes of Mary, His mother. The Rosary is a weapon against despair, a source of grace, and a path to inner peace.
If you want to pray in the tradition of the Community of Warrior Penitents then start by praying the usual 5 mysteries for that specific day and then pray an additional decade of the Rosary for the souls in Purgatory. - Read One Chapter of the Gospel of Luke each day
Over 28 days, immerse yourself in the Gospel of Luke, which offers a rich portrait of Christ’s compassion, healing, and mercy. Let His words transform your heart and mind, one chapter at a time. - Move Your Body
For at least 30-minutes each day, move your body purposefully. There is a wealth of research showing the psychological benefits behind movement, and we are just asking for 30-minutes of your day. You can even walk as you pray your daily Rosary! - Sundays: Attend a local Mass/Divine Liturgy.
If you are unable to attend in person, you may watch a Mass online.
Sundays are off for all other requirements so long as Mass/Divine Liturgy is attended.
